E’s Room

When we moved, it was pretty easy to pick out which room would become E’s new bedroom — the brightest one with the double closets. With being a little lady, she’s going to want that closet space as she gets older.

BEFORE
Before, this room was a terrible shade of green with a gray ceiling. WHY?! It made it so dark! It also had the same pink carpet as the rest of the bedrooms.

AFTER
I wanted this room to be bright, simple and a bit girly. I can’t remember where I saw it first, but I saw an image of a white room with a pink ceiling and I instantly knew that’s what we’d be doing in E’s room. The walls were painted Polar Bear by Behr. It’s not a stark, pure white, but instead has the tiniest bit of a warmer undertone to it. I love it. Sadly the color swatch for the pink ceiling was thrown away before I could write down was the color was.

All of the furniture and some of the decor from her nursery in the old house came back into this room. Even though this room is bigger than her old one, we still had the same furniture placement challenge as before. Not a lot of options with one wall being all closets and the other being all windows. I hung the Rifle Paper Co. city prints above her dresser just like in her old room. I kept with the gold accents and even found gold curtain hardware to hang the sweetest pom pom lined curtains.

Other than paint and carpet, the only other cosmetic change we’ve made is replacing the old window shades with faux wood blinds to match the main level of the house. My great aunt painted and re-upholstered the cutest little rocking chair that’s been passed down in the family and gave it to me at my baby shower. It’s E’s favorite place to sit and “read.” Once she’s a little older, I’m going to turn this corner into a reading nook for her with a tent. Similar to this. I already have the canopy and pillows waiting to be placed! I also want to wallpaper one wall. I think it would be so fun! We still need to replace the ceiling fan with a white one, but other than that I feel good about her room!
