GO! St. Louis Halloween Half Marathon

I completed and PR’d my third half marathon today! I honestly didn’t know how I would do because A) I just wasn’t all that excited for it and B) it was raining off and on during the race. My goal time was 1:55 and I crossed the finish line with an official time of 1:54:42. Woohoo! My last half marathon was 1:58:12, so I’m very happy about cutting almost four minutes off my time.

I use Nike+ while running and was honestly expecting more variation than what I had with my pace, but I’m pretty proud that I was fairly consistent. There were longish inclines (but not really hills) throughout the course and I walk through water stations (I’m not coordinated enough to drink water from a cup and run at the same time), so I knew there would be some slower spots. I totally lost some steam before mile 11…oh well.

This is my “I’m trying to be happy but in reality I’m sweaty and also freezing because it’s 50 degrees and raining” face afterwards.

Four other girlfriends of mine also did the race and all kicked some major butt. Ellen and I finished less than a minute apart and the rest weren’t far behind!

GoSTL_4 As of right now, I don’t plan on doing a half marathon in 2015 because I’m going to focus on doing an Olympic/international distance triathlon in August. However, there’s rumors that Nike’s Women’s Series is moving to Chicago from DC. You know, the race where you’re greeted by firemen in tuxedo’s waiting to hand you a Tiffany’s necklace at the end of the race? Yeah, that race. If it does in fact head to Chicago, I am putting my name in that lottery for a spot!
