August Recap

Other than October, August is my favorite month of the year. It started my annual themed birthday party. This year’s theme was luau! We had friends come over and thankfully the weather was awesome so we were able to hang out on the back patio. There were coconut bras, grass skirts, and of course a few drinking games. Because we clearly haven’t grown out of that from our college days.

Then Tim and I were off to Chicago for a long weekend!

And speaking of going somewhere, I want to go stay in every single one of these cabins.

I’ve started training for my third half marathon. I had to run 8 miles this past weekend. I forget how much I don’t like doing these, so I’m not sure why I do them. However, I did find this Food Pyramid for Runners funny. Apparently people think we eat “something called goo.” (Some do.)

We planted a little garden earlier in the summer and we’re finally getting produce! I’ve picked some basil, one tiny little red pepper and a couple grape tomatoes. I’m super excited for the rest to come in.

I had one weekend where I had no plans…it was amazing! That seriously never happens. Well, I did have one plan. It was to go get (free) birthday cupcakes from The Cup with my BFF Chelsea. If you sign up for their emails you get a free cupcake on your birthday. It’s the same place that we used for our wedding, too. Chels got the gold rush (yellow cake and chocolate buttercream) and I tried the Island Dream (orange cake and frosting).

And lastly, we spent Labor Day weekend tailgating at Mizzou for their home opener and then headed down to the Ozarks. I always think I’m going to come back a tan goddess, but then quickly realize that I’ll be applying SPF 50 the whole weekend.
